Dalaman Turkey
Since the Dalaman Airport is opened, more and more visitors are attracted to the natural and historical beauties around Dalaman. Especially the wonderful inlets, bays around Kapidag peninsula have always been spectacular spots for the blue cruise tours, Sarsala, Gobun, Bongus, Siralibuk, Tasyaka bays and Baba, Nar and Peksimet Islands are to mention... With cool plateaus, bays with wonderful sceneries, rafting in Dalaman River, thermal baths, historical remains. The Dalaman region has a lot to offer to all kinds of nature lovers. Dalaman also plays host to one of Turkey’s most spectacular series of Lakes. The area around 130 years old, Kapıkargin village of Dalaman is known as the region of lakes. Kocagol which is the largest and deepest (40 m) of 4 lakes, is formed by the alluvions barricading the bay from the sea; Badirnaz, Kargin and Kukurtlugol, connected to each other with canals. There are over 300 different plant species living around Kocagol and 23 of them are indigenous. There is even a small island looking like a vase fallen into the lake. Dalaman is a region of natural exquisiteness. It is located in a place where it connects the sea and the mountains. Dalaman is rapidly turning into a place of destination rather than a stop over on the way to another resort town. New roads and streets and the constant development of the area and recent investment to the Airport are making it more accessible.
When visiting the area it is important to also visit Dalyan, if you ever visit Turkey. You’ll enjoy seeing the Kaunos archaeologists sitting and inspecting the craved tombs in the Limestone Mountain while cruising along the Dalyan River. As you reach the shore, walk on to Iztuzu beach which 6th most popular beach in the world. It is 6km long and is thrived by the sea turtles. Iztuzu beach is a sanctuary for these sea turtles. There are lots of antique sites around Dalaman Lidai, Lissay, Crya and Kleopatra Hamam Kalynda and rock tombs at Kapidag, Lycian rock tombs at Gokdag and Kayadibi, Hippokome antique site at Kavacik and Bozbel are worth seeing... The Lycian antique site Caunos, Iztuzu beach, so called 'Turtle Beach', mud baths on Koycegiz Lake can be visited on a daily boat tour starting from Dalyan.
