Turkish construction locomotive for economy
Construction of property in Turkey is driving the country's economy even further, the director general of the nation's Building Information Centre has said.Guven Canturk stated that the building sector is Turkey's "locomotive sector" as it contributes to 200 sub-sectors. Mixing his metaphors, he also called it a sponge as it absorbs a great deal of workers, while it also accounts for a tenth of all industrial production through its use of building materials. In addition, Mr Canturk told Today's Zaman that building materials accounted for 13 per cent of Turkey's exports and were of...

Turkish property market highly professional
Turkey has a strong property market with "highly professional" developers, the Federation of Overseas Property Developers, Agents and Consultants (Fopdac) has said. Arlette Adler, spokeswoman for the federation, said that investing in property in Turkey is aided by "very scrupulous" developers. However, she recommended that British investors should use a British agent, as they tend to be more scrupulous than their Turkish counterparts."Our experience [of Turkey's developers is that] much to our surprise, they are highly professional and there are no problems. Foreign property law pending
A new property law that will dramatically speed up property registration procedures for foreign investors and reduce the amount of administration for the real estate and construction industries is to come into effect. The new law is proof that the Turkish property market is an extremely attractive proposition for outside investors, but also an admission that current legal procedures regarding the purchase of property are overly complex. The new arrangement will remove the need for local commanders to approve property sales and land registration. The Defence Ministry is currently in the process...

Britons have Turkish property fixed in their sites
