Turkey set for big year says travel expert
Turkey is among the destinations being hotly-tipped to attract tourists in the coming year of 2008.Francis Tuke of the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) named Turkey as a country with cause for optimism after an encouraging past 12 months in the tourism sector.He told Wales' Western Mail: "Turkey made a resurgence in 2007 and added 87,000 passengers year-on-year, showing a great recovery from its difficult position in summer 2006. More leg room for passengers heading to Turkey
Passengers heading to Turkey on Thomson Airlines next year can expect a considerably more comfy flight.The company has announced it is to increase the seat pitch from 30 inches to 33 inches, giving its passengers a valuable three more inches of leg room.Thomson flies routes from a number of UK airports including Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester, Newcastle and Bristol to several countries including Turkey.The airline expects six million passengers to fly with them next year, many of whom will travel to the major Turkish gateways of Dalaman, Bodrum and Antalya.More airlines could be set to follow...

Turkish Airlines taps into China market
Turkish Airlines intends to increase the number of services it operates between Turkey and China, the head of the country's flagship airline said.During a visit to the Chinese capital Beijing yesterday (Wednesday, December 12th), Temel Kotil spoke of his aspiration to arrange seven passenger and cargo flights to the far-eastern country every week, reports the New Anatolian.He told the newspaper: "Flights between Istanbul and Shanghai, and Istanbul and Beijing are not enough. Turkish Airlines announces profits increase
Turkish Airlines has reported profits of £79 million over the first nine months of 2007 - up by over half on last year.The number of passengers flying with Turkey's flagship airline rose by 19.4 per cent to 8.9 million, reports the New Anatolian.However, the company does not intend to rest on its laurels, with a projection of over 30 million passengers by the end of the decade, according to the company's general manager.Temel Kotil confirmed: "We've reached high growth rates in recent years and our aim is to carry 30 million passengers by 2010."Turkish Airlines currently has a...
