The prime minister of Turkey has praised the country's economic performance at a speech were he encouraged more overseas investors to come to Anatolia.Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey, which is part of Nato and applying to become a full member of the EU, welcomed investment from the US and was pleased at trade levels between the two, but said that more potential exists."It is pleasing that the bilateral trade volume between Turkey and the United States nearly reached 12 billion USD by the end of 2006. Foreigners flocking to trade in Turkey

Turkey to export 40m flowers to lovers
Turkey's export market is to benefit from love this month as 40 million flowers are prepared for export to Europe for St Valentine's Day.Antalya Cut Flowers Exporters' Union chairman Osman Bagdatlioglu told the New Anatolian that the export of cut flowers rose 40 per cent between November 2006 and January 2007 in comparison to the same period a year ago."We aim to achieve a 30 per cent rise on Valentine's Day this year compared to 2006. Turkish pharmaceuticals set to boost economy
Turkey's pharmaceutical manufacturers are set to attract major international investment to the country, an expert has said.The country's market for such products is already worth US$3 billion (£1.5 billion) and is the fastest growing in the Mediterranean, leading Engin Guner, secretary general of Turkey's Association of Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies, to say its industry can expand."The Turkish pharmaceutical sector is ready for takeoff.
