LATEST NEWS FROM THE DALAMAN REGION
Couple couldnt bear to part with Dalaman property
A Scottish couple who had planned the purchase of a Dalaman property to be a short-term investment grew to like the home so much they ended up making it a regular holiday home.
Angus and Alison Charity were instantly blown away by the beauty of the area, half-an-hour's drive away from Dalaman International Airport, reports Scotland's Sunday Mail.
They have now scrapped ideas to purchase a house in Florida, instead seeing their Turksih property as a place to enjoy as well as a long-term investment which can act as an alternative to a pension fund.
Mr Charity, 42, told the newspaper: "I wasn't sure at all when we went out to see the place. I'd never been to Turkey and I think I had a preconceived idea of what it would be like.
"I couldn't have been more wrong. The people were friendly, we loved the food and the landscape was so pretty. And the weather was a huge bonus.
"Best of all, it is only a few hours flight from Scotland and the property was amazing value."
Dalaman and its surrounding areas offer ripe pickings to overseas property investors, with a major £8.7 billion government investment into tourism infrastructure having been granted.
Plans for a new marina and golf course are already afoot and a new terminal opened at the airport in April 2006.
