Airline turns to Dalaman in bid to boost passenger numbers
According to reports, Thomsonfly will do away with five routes from Bournemouth Airport and turn to Dalaman in a bid to boost its passenger numbers from the terminal.
Regular flights to Dalaman have been given the go ahead and have been added to the company's summer schedule, reports the Dorset Echo.
After Alicante, Salzburg, Valencia, Pisa and Tenerife were given the chop as yet another low-cost airline in the UK aims to take advantage of Brits' love affair with Turkey.
A Thomsonfly spokeswoman conceded to the publication that the previous routes had not proved as busy as hoped and that this was likely to be the reason for the changes.
She told the newspaper: "Usually if they reduce anything it's to do with customer demand, so if there's any reason flights are not turning out to be very popular, that's what they take into consideration."
The Dalaman area is currently the subject of a major government investment into tourism infrastructure, translating to a prime opportunity for overseas property buyers.
A new international terminal at Dalaman Airport has been constructed, at a cost of $150 million (£72.8 million).
