Turkey Property | Sport in TurkeyPaintballing in Turkey
Paintball is becoming a hugely popular sport and Turkey offers the ideal location to engage in this sport in Turkey, with a varied range of locations. This sport in Turkey has only recently been introduced to Turkey and last year witnessed the formation of Anatolian Paintball Masters, which is encouraging more teams and thus more centres to be established. The Turkish Professional Paintball League (TPPL) was also formed last year and likewise is encouraging more areas to offer the sport in Turkey to a more diverse range of people. Players engaging in a round of paintball fire dye-filled gelatin capsules at each other with the object of marking them as hit in a simulation of warfare. Special equipment, particularly around the head, is worn to protect eyes and ears from any damage. In addition, many centres clothe players in camouflage dress to add to the simulation of battle if taking place outside, though many arenas in Turkey offer inside action. Scores of people regularly play paintball and some are even professionals, though this is yet to fully develop in Turkey. However, recognition of the sport in Turkey is helping to expand facilities and many foreign teams now travel to Anatolia to take part in competitions, or just to have fun in a new and exciting location. In fact, such is the attraction of paintball that people who have bought Turkey property now advertise the proximity of such centres as they know that it encourages people to visit. This growth in recognition was no doubt helped by the Bosphorus Cup last November, which saw 26 teams from 11 European nations participate in a Turkish paintball competition for the first time. However, unlike competitions in most other nations, organisers provided top-level equipment for those who could not afford it, in order to encourage more amateurs to participate. At the time, Ozan Onal, president of the TPPL, said according to paintballsta.com: "We're very happy with the league turnout this season, and it means a great deal to have such a success in our first year. "This season we provided high-end markers to teams without equipment and paid for most of the costs incurred by foreign teams for the final, and we have more surprising and unusual things planned for the upcoming 2007 season." Yet this sport in Turkey is not just for the dedicated player and many people have found either going by themselves or with groups of friends that it is an enjoyable sport to play just for the day. And with Turkish resorts offering quality nightlife, a day spent shooting comrades can end with a relaxing evening out. Whether you favour paintballing, skiing or scuba diving, or if you want to follow the steps of Saint Paul or paraglide from a high mountain, Turkey has all the activities.
