Rixos Bernhard Langer Golf Course – Belek

Golfing champion Bernhard Langer is to bring his name to golf in Turkey when the end of the year sees the opening of the Rixos Bernhard Langer Golf Course near Belek.

The $40 million (£21 million) golf course designed by Langer is the latest in a number of high-investment golfing projects in the region and will feature a top-quality 18-hole course to rival the other luxurious ones in the region designed by rivals Nick Faldo and Colin Montgomerie, amongst others.

Complementing the $130 million (£67 million) luxury Rixos hotel grand that opened last year in the area, the golf course designed by the former Ryder Cup European captain will add to the top Turkey property opportunities that Turkey has to offer. Langer's hand in design is likely to be a big draw for golfers as he has played professionally for over 30 years, with a string of top victories culminating in his captaincy of Europe in the Ryder Cup. A member of the Golf Hall of Fame, Langer is a professional who has designed other courses, including those in his home of Germany, Spain and Ireland, showing the international demand for his skills.

Golf in Turkey can be played all year round in Belek as even in December the average temperature in Rixos is 16C and there are around 300 days of sunshine in a typical year, making it an ideal location for the sport. Belek promotes itself as the heart of golf in Turkey and it is of little surprise that Bernhard Langer is adding his name to the other high-profile courses in the region. Located within a five minute drive of the site are the Tat International, a 27-hole championship course; the Robinson Nobilis Golf Club, voted seventh best course in the world by Golf Journal; and the Belek National, voted 16th best course in the world by the Golf Magazine. Belek also enjoys low humidity, so golfers don't have to sweat it out too excessively under the Mediterranean sun.

There are regular shuttle tours from individual Turkey property to the courses and the Rixos Bernhard Langer Golf Course is likely to be no exception and those who do not wish to play golf in Turkey all the time can book tours to the surrounding area. For instance, the area also boasts numerous blue flag sandy beaches - including Uckumtepesi, Tasliburun, Iskele, Ileribasi and Acisu which, together, cover a 30-kilometre stretch of coastline.
