Lykia Golf Course – Antalya

From May this year, golf in Turkey is to get its first pure links course.

Designed by Perry Dye and situated along natural sand dunes and pine forests, the course will nuzzle right up against the Turkish Riviera.

The Golf Hotel and Resort Complex will incorporate an 18-hole professional golf course and nine-hole academy course over one million square meters of land.

Suitable for advanced professionals, it will be one of only 300 'Links' courses worldwide immediately putting it in the top one per cent of the world's 36,000 golf courses.

As is expected of a Links course, golf in Turkey at Lykia Golf Course will be challenging. In this case the added difficulty will be delivered in the form of the prevailing wind off of the Mediterranean Sea, as well as the varied terrain.

Accomplished golfers will need to flex their Scottish style "punch and run" shots along quilted fairways such as are reminiscent of Scottish golf courses that hosted the British Open tournaments.

Bristling with rye grass and elevated tees and punctuated with pot bunkers, the golf in Turkey on this course will tease golfers through foothills and sand dunes.

Holes 13 to 16 will be dramatically placed in the dunes, while hole 17 the signature hole will be a tricky par three, rather like the postage stamp at Royal Troon.

A 27-hole short course will provide a little lighter relief, as will the coastal breeze for those feeling the heat in the Turkish sun.

The holiday village, located in the pine forest next to the ocean, will play host to several activities catering not only to golfing fanatics, but beach lovers and families too. This is an ideal location for Turkey property, providing everything an investor could want.

The resort will include two indoor pools, a spa island and 1,800 square metres of neo-classical style architecture in total; as well as five outdoor pools, a health and fitness centre, a wide selection of nightly entertainment and some superb restaurants including Turkish, Italian, French, Chinese, and Japanese offerings. There will also be a snack restaurant and golf club restaurant.

Additional amenities will include the Children's Paradise Fun Island, indoor and outdoor pools, eight restaurants, four bars, a spa island, a patisserie, pub, theatre, bowling alley and disco. There will also be eight tennis courts, a professionals' shop and boutiques.
