Klassis Golf Club - Istanbul

The first international-standard course to open in Turkey, golf in Turkey at Klassis Golf Club, offers top class golfing in a beautiful green setting. Designed by Tony Jacklin, the 18-hole championship course is now one of the world's leading courses, with the par 73 course distancing 6245 metres.

The field has been described by specialists as "exciting and balanced". During its development British, French and Belgian golf specialists were consulted, while construction saw 15 tonnes of the finest grass seeds, produced in the Netherlands, set in place over an area of 1.5 million square metres. Meanwhile, 38,000 metres of irrigation pipes are controlled automatically by computers at a meteorology station to ensure the course stays in tip-top condition.

After it was originally opened in 1995, Klassis Golf Club's international standards were crowned in 1997 when it was recognised as a Professional Golf Association (PGA) Tournament Course – a first for Golf in Turkey. It comprises of four par threes, five par fives and nine par fours.

For those looking to sharpen their golfing prowess, or perhaps pick up a club for the first time, golf lessons are given at the Klassis Golf & Country Club Centre by local and foreign instructors. In addition, top class equipment and all kinds of golf materials can be hired or purchased at the Pro-Shop.

Golf in Turkey here also has an Academy Course, which has nine holes, all of them par threes. Or perhaps you can try your hand on the driving range or the putting green to fine-tune some of the more technical aspects of your game.

Klassis Golf & Country Club is located within the borders of Silivri, Istanbul, in the Altintepe Region. It is just 65 kilometres from the Ataturk Airport, making it ideal for those wanting to own Turkey property here and to be close to the city yet far enough away to forget about all their worries - other than those tricky ten-foot putts!

Today the course is served by the the Klassis Golf Hotel; this Turkey property is a haven of comfort with 110 rooms and six suites. Rooms have balconies opening onto a lush forest and all rooms are equipped with minibars, direct telephones and 19 TV channels.

For those wanting to take a break from golf in Turkey, many other high quality facilities, both sporting and non-sporting are available at the site. These include swimming pools, basketball and volleyball courts, mini soccer grounds, a compact field, tennis courts, mountain biking, jogging tracks, amusement parks for children, child care units, a midway lodge cabin and of course a selection of fine restaurants and bars.

Golf course hoppers will also be interested to know that the Istanbul area is fast turning into something of a golfing archipelago: three further golf courses in Istanbul, four in Antalya Belek and one in Ankara are all available, with three further courses in the area in construction – plus 15 awaiting planning permission.

Golf in Turkey Championship Course with 18 Holes

Number of pars is 73, and the yardage is 6245 metres, there are 4 tracks of Par 3, 5 tracks of Par 5, 9 and tracks of Par 4. As an average, the “greens" are 450 square meters. There are “tees” at every course, at the average dimensions of 15m. X 7m. for beginners, ladies, gents, and the professionals.

Academy Course

It is a special course with 9 holes, 27 pars and a yardage of 851 metres, for beginners. At the course, there are 9 Par 3 tracks. As an average, the “greens" are 350 square meters.

Driving Range

It has a length of 230 metres and a width of 150 metres. It is possible to play and take lessons on 20 mats. Also, 15 people can play at the same time on the grass "tee".

Putting Green

It has 12 holes and it is approximately 820 square meters. There are two bunkers around the Putting Green.

Golf Carts

50 golf carts, which are o Club Car brand, are for 2 people each, with canvas and glass, to be used at the 18-hole championship field. The noise of the cars, which can hardly be heard from a distance of 4 metres, is only 63 dBl.

With all these facilities, the Klassis Golf & Country Club Golf Centre has hosted several national and international events since 1995, and has taken significant steps for the development of golf in Turkey, and for our country to open up to the world in this respect as well.
